Privacy at Amber English

Signing in

Clerk handles email verification and Google sign-in. If you choose Google, we request only your basic profile and email address (openid, email and profile). Google may provide your name and profile picture to Clerk. Amber uses your verified email, name and account identifier to sign you in, keep your account data separate, and provide your account features. We do not request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendars.

Your reading and account data

Your device stores reading materials, preferences and learning state. Account features also store data such as your library, saved words, notes, conversations and sync records on the service. Usage records help enforce service limits. Information you submit through Feedback, including optional screenshots and device context, is available to the product operator and development tools for investigating and responding to your request.

Features that use other services

The website is hosted on OpenAI Sites, with Cloudflare database and file storage. Authentication is provided by Clerk and, when you choose it, Google. AI explanations and passage conversations send the relevant text and conversation context to DeepSeek. Audio generation sends the requested text to MiniMax. Voice input sends microphone audio to Youdao for transcription. These providers process the information needed to deliver the selected feature; their own privacy policies also apply. Processing may occur outside your country, including in China. Avoid submitting sensitive personal information or material you are not permitted to share.

Cookies, storage and optional activity records

Authentication cookies and browser storage keep you signed in and retain your reading state. Optional reading-behavior recording is off by default. When enabled, it records learning events such as lookups and deliberate replays; it does not record raw microphone audio, chat bodies or keystrokes as behavior events. You can manage this option and export or delete supported learning records in Settings, under Data & Privacy.

Your choices

You can use the public sample pages without an account. Google access can be revoked in your Google Account connections. Revoking access does not by itself delete data already held by Amber. To request deletion of your account and associated server data, email the address above from your account email; we may need to verify ownership. Existing ChatGPT accounts and new Clerk accounts are separate and are not automatically merged by email.

Account data is retained to provide the service until removed through available controls or a verified deletion request, subject to operational and security requirements. We do not sell Google account data or use it for advertising. This notice will be updated when the service's data practices change.
